OUR AIMS

We started tutor4 with the aim of providing the best studying resources, techniques and motivation for students of a range of levels in various subjects.

We had been informally tutoring friends and family whilst we were at school and decided to formalise tutor4 to share the study knowledge and skills we have gained through our schooling and the medical applications process with a wider audience.

We noticed repeatedly that highly successful and productive students were those that were the most motivated, with their motivation often stemming from clear targets and a clear roadmap for how to meet them; our focus is therefore high quality provision of original and exam-standard resources, proven study techniques and tailored tutoring to build motivation and academic drive

OUR QUALIFICATIONS

It would be untrue to say our school careers were plain-sailing, but through a lot of hard work and a great deal of excellent teaching we both scored A*s in all of our GCSE and A-Level subjects.

We were Head Boy/Deputy Boy at school and understand the pressures of extra-curricular commitments on students of all ages, but managed our time sufficiently well to receive all our offers from the medical schools we applied to (including a scholarship offer from Imperial and offers from UCL, KCL, Edinburgh and Bristol), both opting in the end to study at Cambridge.

During our final year at school we organised a large conference at school for over 100 medical school applicants from around the country, so have a good understanding of the admissions process. We scored in the top deciles for the BMAT and UCAT exams, including overall average scores of 850 and 770 in the UCAT.

Between us, we have tutored over 15 students over the course of a year and have received lots of positive feedback (see Testimonials). Of course, we are still challenged regularly by our academic studies and are constantly learning; we really love what we do and we want to use our experience to provide a professional and useful service.

Tutors

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER UNIVERSITY STUDENTS?

Private tuition by university students is a commonly provided service, and has numerous benefits for the tutee. We believe that  students connect very well with a tutor closer in age to them; the tutor has also more recently been through exactly the same process as the tutee (in many cases with exactly the same exams) and so is in a good position to understand the specific difficulties their students are facing.

We have found this to be the case on multiple occasions - the value of a different explanation of a tricky concept or an activity making a previously uninteresting topic come to life is not to be underestimated!
